Research
Research was conducted on the event’s location to understand how to shape the theme around the area’s character. From there, an engaging color scheme was developed to complement the event’s activities and atmosphere. Every design choice was made to align with the event’s overall theme and purpose.
Design
The overall design needed to blend the energy of a sports brand with the warmth and culture of coffee. Since many run clubs start their morning runs at local coffee shops, I wanted that tradition to be reflected in both the event’s merchandise and the atmosphere. The goal was to create an environment that feels active, social, and connected to Seattle’s coffee culture.
Development
When developing this project, I approached it from the perspective of a participant. I asked myself what I would want to experience at this event and what benefits I’d hope to take away from it. It was important to think like someone who’s part of the running community, rather than viewing it from an outside perspective, to ensure the event felt authentic, meaningful, and genuinely engaging for those involved.

Concept
A community-driven event that combines the energy of run clubs with Seattle’s rich coffee culture. Designed for runners of all levels, this event creates a space where fitness and social connection meet. The concept centers around the idea that many run clubs naturally gather at coffee shops before or after their runs — and Java Jog turns that simple ritual into a full experience.
